Stevenage's men were the stars of the club in the latest round of fixtures in the East Hockey League - with a thumping victory at home to Bishop's Stortford.

They won 7-1 at Nobel to emphatically end a run of tricky fixtures and poor availability.

Tom Cowan then chipped in with his first goal for the team before Parker made it 4-0.

It was a dominant performance throughout the full 70 minutes, keeping possession well with Jack Scott bossing the midfield and Will Hall controlling from the centre of defence.

And although Stortford got one back on a quick break, the second half continued in the same vein.

Callum Matthews got his first of the season before Oliver and Parker added one more to each of their tallies, moving Stevenage to eighth in the league.

The seconds also beat Stortford, winning 4-2 in Division Four.

However, the thirds lost by the same score to Letchworth fourths, Tim Wright and Matthew Oliver on target, and the fourths went down 5-0 to Stortford's sevenths.

The wins over the east Herts rivals continued in the ladies' section too with the seconds winning 4-2 as well.

They had raced into a 3-0 lead early in the second half and although the visitors pulled two back in 10 minutes, Alfie Gunther turned in a Steph Oliver pass to ease the nerves and seal the win.

For the other four ladies' teams, it was almost a complete stalemate.

Only the fourths were beaten, going down 2-0 at home to Saffron Walden, with the other three all drawing.

The firsts were held 0-0 at Welwyn Garden City, surviving four green cards in the second period, while it was the same score for the thirds against Rickmansworth.

The fifths were also at Welwyn but this one finished 1-1, coming from behind with a Hilary Davies equaliser.

The men were away to Dereham and goals from Graham Burr, Jamie Williams, Ethan Gaunt and Chris Gadsden kept them in the top six of the Premier Division.

The ladies meanwhile defeated Bedford with Jay Livermore (two), Ellie Johnson and a late winner by Harriet Marsh the difference.

They stay fourth in Division One South.

The seconds and thirds also played Bedford.

The seconds drew 2-2, Josie Layton giving the Hitchin side the lead before a late Kate Sherwood strike to rescue a point.

The threes meanwhile lost 3-1, Kat McLarty scoring with Amelie Roman outstanding in goal.

Niamh Krishman was on target again for the fourths but they were beaten 6-1 at St Albans.

The fifths drew 2-2 at home to Harpenden, Holly Clarke and Chloe Bugler their scorers, but the sixths went down 4-2 at Letchworth, Imogen Ryden with both for Blueharts.

Back in the men's section, the seconds went down 6-1 to a powerful Old Loughtonians side, Addison Scott scoring their consolation, but there was better news for the threes for whom goalkeeper Cameron Carr was outstanding in their 1-0 win at Rickmansworth.

Matt Maylin scored the only goal.

The fourths won, beating Potters Bar 4-1 with goals from Rory Williams (two), Daniel Harvey and Chris Batchelor, and there were two goals from Joel Davey and one each from debutant Charlie Moore and Pete Mitchell as the fifths beat league leaders Shefford & Sandy by the same score.

A stroll in the park for the sixths ended with a very nervous finish against St Albans.

Paul Krishman (two) and Gavin Bidgood had put them 3-0 ahead but they needed keeper Jack Jones to produce some brilliance and preserve a 3-2 victory.

A Bobby Bridges brace gave the sevenths a 2-2 draw at Shefford & Sandy, while the eighths remain unbeaten after a 2-1 win over Hertford.

Tom Payne and Charlie Woodman got their goals.
