As well as games in the league there were four different cup competitions too for Hitchin Sunday League teams too - with four being an appropriate number for one player.

That was the number of goals scored by Jamie Gooderham of North Herts Hatters, as the Division Two side beat Division One North Baldock 6-1 in the second round of the Carl Couzens Challenge Cup.

The other goals came from Liam Blaine and Nat Liburd.

The third round of the Herts Sunday Intermediate Cup saw GSS beaten 2-1 away to Berkhamsted Tornadoes Res.

Buffs are out of the Herts Sunday Junior Cup too, beaten 4-1 against FC Boca Seniors, but AFC Squirrel moved through thanks to a 3-2 win at home against Inter.

The final cup game was in the first round of the George John Cup and Troll Campbell were at home against fellow Division One side St Ippolyts.

This tie finished 2-2 with Troll winning 5-4 in the shoot-out.

In Division One, Arlesey Town were at home against Hitchin Rovers with the visitors winning 3-2.

There was a closely fought contest as Squirrel Taverners faced Sandon. It was the Taverners that picked up all three points following a 2-1 win.

Feed Up Warm Up picked up their first league win of the season with a 2-1 victory at home against The Cock in Division Two.

Niche scored two without reply to win against Fairfield Park.

Queens Herts Rangers were at home against Cronies but unfortunately lost by the odd goal in five.

Down And Under had a convincing 7-1 win away against bottom of the table Cronies.

In Division Three Lads Speak Out move up to second place after their good 4-0 win at home against Lea Sports PSG.

Rovers 49 slipped to defeat at home against the division’s top team BOCA after being dealt the cruellest of blows midway through the second half.

They were leading the game thanks to a third consecutive Tom Hills penalty when keeper Viktor Kokeny suffered a nasty injury after landing awkwardly.

He had kept Rovers in the game with several top quality saves in the first half to see the sides go into the break at 0-0.

Captain Liam Thomas took up the gloves and was extremely unlucky to see the visitors draw level after he superbly tipped a free-kick from just outside the box onto the crossbar only to see the rebound tapped in from close range.

Rovers were unlucky again just a few minutes later when BOCA were awarded a penalty, also converted, and the table toppers grew in confidence after being pushed all the way for an hour of the game.

Three gifted goals followed in quick succession as the second half played out with the home side squandering their best chance of pulling a goal back when Hills could have doubled his tally from just inside the box when he chose to side foot his shot, rather than strike it and the effort went wide.

The three points for BOCA gives them a six-point lead at the top of the table.

The final game of the day saw VFC Rovers at home against Ashwell and both teams picked up a point with a 2-2 draw.
