Most clubs have their own form of programme to get novice runners up to completing a 5k after a number of weeks - Stevenage Striders' latest graduates had their latest passing out ceremony.
There were 14 on the start line for the Stevenage Parkrun, along with a good number from the club to celebrate their achievement.
Anthony Geaves was the first male to finish while Katie Taylor led home the female contingent.
Anna Geaves, Rick Ingels, Sandeep Parmar, Sarah Dennis, Lorraine Park, Maureen Freshman, Corinne Morfill, Luigina Hamer, Tim Cash, Caroline Goodchild, Sarah Williams and Amy Cass completed the group.
A spokesman said: "The commitment and dedication shown by each of the graduates over the nine weeks was so admirable and encouraging to us all.
"As we all know hard work and commitment to your training will always bring you success and that was displayed perfectly by each of these amazing graduates.
"A massive congratulations to them all."
A good chunk of the club were these week involved in their annual five mile handicap series, 38 in total.
Awards were given to the top three finishers and to the fastest male and female although every runner received a participation medal for their efforts.
Sarah Bolger took first place ahead of Catherine Gooding-Williams and Jim Whitehead.
The fastest female was Lina Mi in 37 minutes 19 seconds while the fastest male was Marc William Cecil in 29:29.
For North Herts Road Runners, most roads led to St Neots and the half marathon there.
There were 16 Squirrels up the A1 for an undulating course with Helen Nuttall leading the club pack home in 1:34:09, her fastest half in eight years.
Lucy O’Connor, on her return from injury, finished in 1:54:23, just two minutes off her course PB from 2021.
Caroline Thrussell came fourth in the FV55 category with 1:47:12.
Sue Foot opted for an off-road adventure, taking on the Shillington Shuffle Trail Marathon, a self-navigated course that started and finished in Barton-le-Clay.
St Neots and Shillington were also the destinations for Fairlands Valley Spartans.
Martin Jacob in particular enjoyed his run in Cambridgeshire, his 1:45:56 taking 47 seconds off his PB.
Jay Papa finished in 1:28:42 with Wendy Tharani home in 2:07:39.
Spartans Sharon and Mike Crowley finished the Shillington Shuffle, an off-road meander from Barton-le-Clay, in 8:29, with Paul Holgate in 8:53 and Mike Newbitt in 9:45.
Among the club's parkrun highlights was Grant Ramsay coming fourth at Stevenage in his 150th parkrun and Kirk Ndugu fifth.
Karen Ellis was the fastest Fairlands female.
Pamela Viljoen clocked her 250th parkrun while there were new parkrun PBs for Stephanie Mayfield (29:13) and Elizabeth Crowley (29:37).
Stevenage Phoenix head and deputy coaches, Emma Mead and Lisa Liversidge also took on the challenge of the shuffle.
They finished in 5:44:43 over the 26-mile route.
The Brighton 10k proved popular with Simon Lodge among those on the south coast seafront.
He finished in 36:55 which was a season's best for him, as well as a new MV50 club record.
Another at the seaside was Jon Boe who tackled the Coastbusters 10k, an out and back route between Ramsgate and Broadstairs.
He finished in 1:02:30.
Inland and further north, Joanna Heasman and Zoe Shreeve ran the Alton Towers 10k at the theme park.
The pair ran together, finishing in 1:00:44, before taking advantage of free access to the park's rides.
There were also parkrun PBs for Phoenix pair Lacey Harris and Richard Moore.
