Nathan Thompson is the latest defender to join the Stevenage injured brigade but as unfortunate as that is, manager Alex Revell says Boro have to, and will, crack on with the job at hand.

The defender limped out of the action at Peterborough United in their least League One game, joining fellow centre-halves Dan Sweeney and Charlie Goode on the shelf.

The Boro boss though still believes his squad is more than capable of coping.

Revell said: "He's going to be missing for a few weeks, he’s pulled his thigh.

"He's been excellent and he came into the team and [showed] his qualities so it will be a loss for us.

"He's quite a quick healer so we're hoping it's not going to be too long but it does add to the two big losses we’ve had in that position so

"But that’s why we've got a squad and we've got good players, people that can fill that role.

"It’s then down to them to perform at the same level that Nathan has been over the past few weeks.

"It is what it is and we just have to adapt and it's part of football and we crack on now to this next block of games with they players we have available.

"And we have to carry on the performances because they've been excellent over the past few weeks."

Stevenage now have four games in less than two weeks, starting with a trip to Mansfield Town on Saturday.

And Revell knows he may have a tough job on his hands in picking a shape and selecting personnel due to the number of players out, but sometimes you cannot legislate for things and you just have to face up to it.

He said, "I think Nathan is our first muscle injury, everything else has been just injuries that have come out of the blue – tackles or falling on the floor [awkwardly].

"They’re not something you can plan for.

"I hate to say it but they are unlucky injuries but you get them. You just hope not to get as many as what we've had.

"But there's no sob story here. We crack on."
