The Hitchin Town Centre 5k took pride of place in the calendars of running clubs.
Hosted by Hitchin Hares, the sell-out race featured laps of the town centre and was won by Andrew Patterson of Fairlands Valley Spartans in 16 minutes 10 seconds.
Lucy Storey of Stevenage & North Herts AC was the female winner in 18:15, putting her 11th overall.
The best of the home club was Peter Males who was sixth in 17:32.
Marie Colucci was the fastest female Spartan in 23:05, with Harriet Smith in 23:45.
Mike Jeffs was eighth in 18:01 while there were age group podiums for Brian White, Andy Jay and Jackie Perry.
North Herts Road Runners had Rhia Botha coming home as the third female in 19:57 while Steve McKeown also won his age group with 19:37.
Father and daughter duo, Andrew and Elizabeth Robson were also in action with Andrew’s perfect pacing resulting in a sub-30 time of 29:48 for his daughter Elizabeth who finished with a very impressive sprint up Bucklesbury.
Philip Flack and Ian Sutcliffe were two of the six M70s racing, Flack finishing in 27:52 and Sutcliffe in 31:02.
Sheila Leavy race walked her way to 39:14.
Kate Towsey (24:05), Tina Buckeridge (24:55), Esperanza Castro (27:05), Danielle Das (28:16), Eden Hudson (29:22) and Isla Hudson (36:56) were the others.
The club best went to Katie Mitham, her 24:17 breaking the senior women's record.
Kerry Cunnane was paced by ladies' captain Caitlin Evans to a PB of 28:07 while John Harris was the other individual to go quicker than before, clocking 28:58.
Alex Wasley was first Phoenician home in 19:12 followed by new club member Christopher Nunn in 21:53 and Conor O’Neill in 22:09.
Martin Harris had finished two seconds in front of Mitham.
Katka Laughton (25:06), Ben Murphy (25:26), Phil Gover (27:08), Neil Homewood (27:59), Joanna Heasman (28:59), Simona Leadbetter (29:07), Jacky Murphy (30:38), Sue Leigh (33:36), Wendy Summerbee (33:37), Emma Wick (35:05) and Sue Pudner (36:03) were also involved.
Charlie Day meanwhile paced wife Emma Jane in her first ever 5k race.
Spartans had an age group winner in Yuko Gordon, winning the women 70-plus in 3:34:45, while Simon Fraser came in easily under three hours with 2:48:09.
Four Squirrels took on the Leighton 10 mile race.
Sam Coxon stormed round to finish third overall in 55:39 followed by Cam Geekie in 19th.
Becky Geekie was 15th in the women's race while Bev Rimmer clocked 1:37:20.
Hannah Keeble joined a group of friends to take on the huge challenge of the Rat Race Sea to Summit.
The 34-mile event started on the Cumbrian coast at Seascale before heading inland into the Lake District, taking on the ascent and descent of Scafell Pike before heading back to the start.
Keeble and co completed the run in 14 hours although she is not sure if she'll ever make a return.
Pete Tungate of Phoenix was also trudging through the event, finishing in a time of 13 hours 55 minutes.
Stevenage Striders had some milestone runs at parkruns too.
Martin Scales, Linton Findlay and Andrew Manning set course PBs at Stevenage while there was a parkrun PB for Laura Duffield at Kings Lynn.
Teressa Sutherill, Chris Rowlands, Steve Moore and Helen Moye all had age category podium places while Peter Bampton-Clare completed his 100th parkrun.
Striders duo Lennie and Jack Cant tackled the Loch Ness Marathon and both achieved significant PBs.
Lennie finished in 4:54.12 while Jack completed the race in 4:16.09.
