Letchworth found their stride in style - recording a second win of the new rugby union campaign with a demolition of Harpenden.

The hosts weren't helped by four injuries through the contest on the artificial surface at Redbourn Lane but in truth Letchworth were worthy of their 67-10 victory in Regional One South East.

They out scrummaged their hosts, soared high in the line-out and kicked, drove and handled their way through and around Harpenden who could only manage a try from a quick tap penalty and by finding the edge once for their winger to score.

A yellow card to Harpenden skipper Oli Lacey came as an effect of the early Letchworth pressure, and Sharp kicked the opening points.

The rest of the half was almost one-way traffic.

Charlie Parkhouse backed his pace to score in the corner before Llewellyn Jones drove over, and Tim Hughes scored off the back of a driving maul.

Parkhouse then got his second and the try of the half, a move that Sharp started in his own 22 and featured contributions from Richard Streets, Arun Johal and Jake Allen before the full-back scooted past the cover.

The pack drove Hughes over for his second before Jude Schoeman got in on the act, Sharp converting all but one of them.

Half-time brought little relief for beleaguered Harpenden as more Letchworth tries followed in the second period.

Christopher Gibbs found his way to the line after a break from Streets, Hughes got his hat-trick after a lengthy forwards' drive and Streets then topped a fine performance in the last minute to finish things off.

Four sides now have a maximum 10 points from two games, with Letchworth second in the standings behind Oundle.

Bedford Athletic, who have lost their first two games, come to Legends Lane on Saturday.

Hitchin had a day to forget in Counties One Herts Middlesex, losing 78-7 to new leaders Brunel University.
