The end of the outdoor bowls season saw Letchworth Garden City hold their own finals day.

They also took the opportunity to present a cheque for £320 to LGC charity Jackie’s Drop In, the choice of president Giovanni Cataldo.

They support activities for adults with disabilities.

On the green there were two triumphs for both Christopher Ottaway (men's champion and two-wood) and Haidee Castle (ladies' champion and three-set singles).

Jamie Moynes (handicap), Alan Sparkes (novices cup), Robert Proudfoot and Tony Sinclair (pairs) and Bob Hart, Mick Barker and Peter Bailey (triples).

There was further success when Pauline Simmons, Lymm Bailey, Christine Ottaway and Haidee Castle won the Herts Women’s Club League trophy.

They won through a morning semi-final to set up a clash with home team Welwyn & District, beating them 17-11 to seal the triumph.

A midweek friendly at Howard Garden ended in a 51-31 loss.

The Stevenage Mixed League has almost come to a close with Baldock Town claiming a double, adding a first ever league title to their Knockout Cup success.

They have a total of 118 points from their 24 games, 28 clear of Howard Garden who can't catch them despite having two games left to declare.

Defending champs St Ippolyts are third on 88.

Howard Garden's last two games declared brought 10 points, a 48-35 win over Three Horseshoes followed by a 55-50 victory over Stevenage Town.

Datchworth's SML campaign ended with a 54-34 win away to neighbours Knebworth.

Two rinks won and one drew, the best of them an 18-7 success for Maurice Gordon, Ian Tyler, Ian Williams and Richard Harper, who could even cope with having four shots deducted for playing an all-male rink.

There was mixed results in the two mixed friendlies played.

The first resulted in a heavy 61-16 loss at Co-op Luton, a match cut short by rain.

However, a trip to Hertford in bright sunshine was much more fruitful, bringing a 109-107 success.

The six rinks were shared equally with Datchworth's best one being Jack Harper, Jenny Holzbauer and Steve Arnold who won 24-9.

North Herts Bowls Club had a successful last home match of the season, beating Fairfield 79-74.

NHBC had lost the last match between the two but took the win this time mainly through a 21-6 success from Norman Leslie, Derek Gilder and Sharon, borrowed from the visitors.

Baldock Town wrapped up their season with the Letchworth & District finals at Whitethorn and for the second year running, they enjoyed a clean sweep on the trophies.

They had already won the Cairns Cup but went on to add six another titles.

Jamie Claydon won the champion of champions trophy while the singles went to Harry Undrell.

Steve Budge and Aaron Heath took the pairs crown while Budge then teamed up with Sam and Paul Andrews to win the triples.

The Andrews boys, together with Martin Roberts and Matt Undrell, won the fours too while Paul Andrews and Wendy Budge won the mixed pairs.

Baldock did lose their County League semi final though by two shots to Garston.
