Watching GB win medals in triathlons must have sparked something in runners as a number were out in the water, the bike and the road.
Stevenage Striders were well represented at Dorney Lake to take on the Olympic distance event - a 1.5k swim, a 40k bike ride and a 10k run.
There were four who did it as individuals with two getting PBs.
Martin Scales completed it in two hours 36 minutes 16 seconds while Sarah Kinsella managed a time of 2:56:15, just behind Steve Kinsella in 2:54:56.
Lucy Crocker was the quickest of the four in 2:30:16.
On top of that the club had four teams, the fastest of them the 2:16:06 by Rhian Bethell, Anthony Thompson and Abdullah Athar.
Stuart Cuzner, Richard Sutherland and Jess Ives-Keeler came home in 2:28:00 while Ben Ward, Teresa Sutherill and Neil Walsh managed 2:29:03.
Chris Ackerman, Lennie Cant and Jack Cant completed the day in 2:33:19.
Some Striders were taking on extreme obstacle courses.
Adam Hough took three separate events, starting with the AG Pro Championship (35:30), then the Sprint Open (40:16) which is a 5k run with 20 obstacles.
He capped it off with the Beast Open (2:31:21), a 21k distance with 30 obstacles.
Francesca Maria also embraced the spirit of adventure by tackling the Tough Mudder South West, a 10-mile course with 21 obstacles.
She finished in 3:45.
One member of North Herts Road Runners was also on the triathlon stage, and was in fine form.
Steve McKeown secured an Olympic distance silver medal at the English National Age Group Triathlon Championships in Bedford.
He completed the Olympic distance in 2:13:18, narrowly missing out on gold by eight seconds.
The Sheepy Shuffle took seven Squirrels to a half marathon around Rutland Water to raise money for the Mirkwood Home for Retired Sheep in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Linda Aird, Lucy O’Connor, Brian Judkins, Anna Gibson, Dervla Downing, Lorna Chambers and Richard Weber formed the squad at the fourth running of the event.
Stevenage Phoenix had 15 runners and one volunteer across six locations at parkruns while there was a 10k social run in Kimpton on Sunday.
Chris Leigh took on the Birmingham Canals Canter challenge, the route followed 26.5 miles of the myriad of waterways in the second city.
It was a self navigation run where participants followed instructions and had to pass through five checkpoints before returning to Moseley to complete the challenge.
The route passed by Sarehole Mill, under the dark bowels of Spaghetti Junction, Mathew Boultons Soho Manufactory, Gas Street Basin, Cadbury's Bournville Village and Kings Norton's Guillotine Lock.
This was Chris’s 122nd marathon and the second time he has completed this challenge, last running it in August 2022.
He finished it this year in 5:46, an hour faster.
Simon Jackson from Fairlands Valley Spartans won the Stevenage Parkrun in 17:16 while Suzy Hawkins was second woman in 21:54.
Grant Ramsay was sixth.
Meanwhile Jim Brown and Penny Schenkel were at the Schoterbos parkrun, Haarlem, in the Netherlands.
