It was a quieter week for athletes across Hertfordshire - but that didn't mean races were at a premium.
North Herts Road Runners took the opportunity to reward their athletes for superb performances in the Three Counties Cross Country League and Midweek Road Race League, with free ice-cream after training.
Parkruns provided competitive action for them with the fastest time being bagged by Tom Barclay, completing the Selby event in 16 minutes 20 seconds, while Tracy Pitcairn was the quickest NHRR lady, completing the Westmill event in Ware in 22:52.
Michael Over won his age group while on holiday, running the Bryn Bach course.
Parkruns were also top of the agenda for Stevenage Striders as they completed a volunteer takeover at the Stevenage event.
The club's ladies captain, Lucy Crocker, competed in the Battersea Park 10k and finished in a time of 44:43.
That was not only good enough to finish as fourth lady on the night but it was also a PB and club record as well.
Jim Brown of Fairlands Valley Spartans was also in London, clocking 28:36 in the Seprentine 5k.
Parkruns saw a total of 41 Spartans involved with 26 of them at Stevenage.
Debbie Blantern ran her 150th event there, finishing in 31:44 while Yuko Gordon was second woman at Letchworth, as was Ros Ingram at North Walsham, while Kelly McHale was third female at Henlow Bridge Lakes.
The biggest draw of the week was their own Handicap 5k with 26 involved.
Steve Platt took the win, finishing in 27:55, a little more than two and a half minutes better than his handicap.
Adrian Busolini was second and Simon Jackson third.
Rose Sutton was first lady, 1:46 better than handicap, with Samantha Sutton second and new member Megan Coates third.
Stevenage Phoenix had their own handicap 5k with 32 running.
The fastest man on the night was Alex Wasley, finishing in 18:33 which was 1:27 ahead of his target time.
The fastest woman was Kath Phoenix, who came in 3:28 ahead of her 28:00 target time.
Myles Hammersley’s strong run has left him top of the overall leaderboard after three of the six rounds.
Emma Mead conquered the 50k Rodent Wriggle in 7:12.
This event is named after the way it meanders its way up the upper reaches of the River Rat in the Suffolk countryside.
Completion of this race means that Emma now holds the club record for the 50k in her age category.
The Chariots of Fire 5k took four Phoenicians to Milton Keynes, making a loop of Caldecotte lake.
Seventeen year old Alex Wasley went for gold and got it, winning the race in 20:15.
The net from the club to finish was Melissa Tanti in 27:57, followed by Martin Wasley (29:06) and Stella Toresse (29:55).
