The Stevenage Mixed League once again made up the main part of the week for bowls clubs but there was plenty more to keep them occupied.
North Herts Bowls Club played a friendly at home to Datchworth but fell to a 60-53 loss, despite wins on two rinks.
Malcolm Summerville, Tony Glenn and Jeff Tebbutt won 12-11 while Rae Glenn, Sue Douglas and John Atkinson triumphed 16-14.
However, the trio of Jack Harper, Lucy Williams and Barbara Williams won 18-10 for Datchworth, with John Ellis, Jan Smith and Terry Metcalf also winning 17-15.
Datch had two Stevenage Mixed League matches, both at home, but both ended in defeat.
At home to Whitethorn on Saturday, they lost 58-47, two of the three rinks losing and one finishing tied 17-17.
That belonged to Jan Smith, Ann Edwards, Ian Green and Derek Henley who led by one shot going into the final end, and then lost the extra end as per league rules, the point going to Whitethorn.
The two winning rinks for Whitethorn were led by Tony Pinchin (19-17) and Angela Fabris (22-13).
Datchworth's Sunday match ended in a far more comprehensive defeat, visitors Howard Garden winning 74-38.
The visitors' top rink was Michelle Carrod, Daphne Brothers Ian Marvell and Tony Wood who won 29-10.
Whitethorn's second SML game also ended in victory, beating Letchworth Garden City 48-46 thanks to two rink wins, 18-11 and 24-11.
The third rink ended 24-6 in Letchworth's favour and it needed two shots won on the final end by Gary Blackbourn to give Whitethorn overall victory.
Whitethorn then made it three from three in the SML, beating Baldock 51-37, again winning on two rinks.
Baldock did claim all six points though by beating Letchworth 58-38.
The team of Sam Andrews, Steve Budge and Paul Andrews are through to the semi-final of the County Triples, convincingly beating a team from Royston, but the club's B team were beaten 32-29 in the National Two Fours quarter-final at Bishop's Stortford.
A friendly away to Potters Bar ended in a 54-44 loss.
Letchworth Garden City's Pauline Simmons and Christine Ottaway progressed to the next round of the County Pairs, beating Whitethorn by one shot, and the club finished the week by beating Potton in a friendly, the best result coming from the trio of Christine Collis, Mick Barker and Tony Sinclair.
In total there have been results declared in 36 SML matches and they have Baldock Town top with seven wins from nine games and 42 points.
Howard Garden are seven points behind in second, having played a game less, and Whitethorn's superb week has shot them up to third, four wins from their six giving them 24.5 points.
Letchworth are fourth with 23 points.
