Steve Evans has no doubt that there is a rising star in the world of referees after seeing him up close and personal.
Alex Chilowicz relocated from the USA to England late last year and was in charge as Stevenage beat Cambridge United 1-0 in League One at the Lamex.
The 36-year-old arrived in the country with a wealth of experience having made his MLS debut in 2017, taking charge of Colorado Rapids against DC United.
In total, over a six-year period, he officiated 237 games in America’s top-flight and the Boro boss believes he is destined for the very top level in England.
Evans said: "I thought the referee had real good control. He's an American, he's come from the MLS, and people should note his name.
"And I'm not saying this because we’ve won, I don't act like that, but he'll end up in the Premier League.
"And he’s good enough to be in the Premier League.
"His decisions for both teams, his awareness, his positional sense and I actually said that to him on the pitch.
"The last two I said that to now operate in the Premier League, David Cook for example.
"When I saw him in the lower leagues, I said he’s end up in the Premier League and [Chilowicz] will.
"His communication to both the Cambridge bench and our bench was where you'd expect it to be if it was from the likes of Anthony Taylor and Michael Oliver.
"The top referees communicate to you, they talk to you, and they don’t talk to you like you're 10 years old, they talk to your like a man.
"And if you're appealing for something that they don't see, they just explain it in three or four words.
"It's very succinct and it's very quick and they [also] communicate through the fourth official.
"I understand why he's here, Howard Webb will have known him from his time heading up the referees in the MLS.
"He won’t bring many, he’ll only bring ones into the EL structure that he thinks will go through the levels.
"[Cholowicz] is certainly one of them."
