Stevenage manager Steve Evans has poured cold water on rumours that Stevenage will be selling anyone on transfer deadline day.

Aaron Pressley had been one linked in an unsubstantiated move from the League One promotion chasers. 

The striker only arrived at the Lamex at the beginning of August from Brentford but fell down the pecking order after injury curtailed a fairly promising start.

His lack of game time seemingly grabbed the attention of would-be suitors, Cambridge United and Exeter City among those rumoured, but while the Boro boss admitted there had been bids for players, they had all been rejected and he wasn't expecting anyone to leave.

Evans said: "It’s probably unlikely that we'll have many outgoings. 

"Young Reece Hannam may leave the club today and he's got a couple of opportunities to pursue, particularly one overseas and one from lower down the pyramid. 

"I've left Leon Hunter in discussions with Reece and his people and if he's here beyond the deadline, that's fine. 

"He's got himself fully fit now and he's ready to go. 

"We’ve had offers in for five players in total but as I sit here this morning, our chairman has turned them down.  

"He is on a flight as we speak, heading to the UK so maybe they will go. 

"But nah, I wouldn’t expect any movement out. 

"We're still hopefully maybe doing one late in, but we're in the mix with other clubs so we'll see where that lands today.  

"But I said two weeks ago, and I said a week ago, if the window closes today and we've kept who we've kept, I'll be a happy manager. "

He'll also explained the mechanisms in place when a club makes a big for one of his players.

He said: "The chairman and the board of course, although Leon has an input as I do. 

"We don't set values. The board would ask us our opinion on values of players and whether that value would meet the football demand if you like. 

"And then they make the financial decisions.  

"If it was just a straight decision on whether the player stays or goes, that would totally be my decision and would totally lie at my door."
