The Stevenage Half Marathon returns on Sunday and entries are still open.
Starting and finishing at Hampson Park, with the Community Centre as race HQ, the event will use paths around the town with most of the focus on Fairlands Valley Park.
More than 250 have applied so far with a maximum capacity of 800.
Entries are for all people aged 17 and over with the details at racesonline.uk
It will cost £30 in advance or £35 on the day and all runners will receive a memento.
This week's action saw the start of the Sunday Cross-country league, with 27 from Fairlands Valley Spartans taking part at Cheshunt.
Andrew Patterson won the race in 26 minutes 36 seconds while Jonathan Parr was sixth and Adrian Busolini placed ninth.
Georgie Hooper was the fastest Spartan female in 135th while Tracey Jackson in 207th.
Yuko Gordon has been selected for the England masters team to take on the British & Irish International Cross-country Championship in Glasgow next month.
Her latest run saw her clock 1:40:35 at the Bath Half Marathon.
There were 14 from North Herts Road Runners at the Cambridge Town & Gown 10k, with two huge club records.
The course, which heads through the city, is known for producing quick times and so it proved as Astrid McKeown clocked 41:03, a new female veteran 50 club record, over two minutes faster than the previous standard, set more than 10 years ago.
She was the winner of her age group too.
Pete Sibbett was delighted with his 39:40 which not only placed him second MV60, but was also an age group record.
He said: "I was surprised to run so fast but the great crowd support and flat course were amazing."
Others were content with PBs.
Ian Datlen, Nat Rosa, Rhia Botha, Ian Harvey, Mike Phillips, Steve Brenton, Andreea Weisl-Shaw and Georgia Barker all set new times.
A further set of seven Squirrels made the journey up to Peterborough for the Great Eastern Run.
The half marathon saw Tom Webb the first to finish from the club with a PB of 1:10:18.
Dawn Porter also set a new fastest time in 2:05:50 while the others to finish were Nathan Pask (1:15:45), Stewart Overton (1:16:46), Matt Sayers (1:16:52), Daniel Davies (1:20:35) and James Keogh (1:30:03).
Katrina Slisane opted for the marathon distance at the Yorkshire Marathon Festival and set a PB of 3:50.
Vanessa Rolfe and Allison Blunt went for the 10-mile option and finished in 2:00:19 and 1:59:47 respectively.
Stevenage Phoenix had birthday celebrations in among their running activities.
They began life on October 11 last year and has already reached more than 170 members.
Seven of them were at the the Cabbage Patch 10 in Twickenham.
A popular run since its inception in 1984, Jay Papa and Ian Harvey were first of them home in club age group record times of 1:12:38, while Lewis Green set a PB as he followed them close behind in 1:13:12.
The first lady was Jodie Kantas in another club record (1:18:30) and the same was true for Emma Mead (1:26:59), Chris Leigh (1:30:28) and Mel Tanti (1:40:26).
Andy Liddle was just down the road at the Richmond Park half, finishing in 1:56:36, while there was a marathon debut at Chelmsford for Scott Crawford, crossing the line in 4:40:30.
Club founders, Chris and Sue Leigh, travelled to Runnymede to run the 10k Saturn Running Teenage Mutant Ninja Runners event.
The pair finished in 1:05:33.
Denise Ricot travelled to Salcey Forest in Northampton and finished the 10k race in 1:13:24.
Stevenage Striders completed the busy week.
Esther Dixon took part in the 2023 Civil Service Cross Country Championships, completing the hilly five-miler in 52:12 while Ian McClements and Linda Howell completed the Cambridge Town and Gown 10K in 58:06 and 1:10:35 respectively.
At the 10 mile Great South Run, Marc Hagland clocked 1:28:43 while four took on the Great Eastern Run in Peterborough.
Adam Hough led them home with a PB of 1:27:48 with Esther Dixon (2:04:16), Peter Brampton-Clare (2:04:18) and Sarah Allen (2:10:42) tightly bunched behind.
There were three Striders at the Love Luton Half Marathon - David Ellis (2:06:16), Chrissie Thomas (2:12:48) and Paula Heyes (2:39:49) - while Peter Monk ran the Bat Ran Half Marathon in 2:27:02.
