Delight and sheer undiluted pride are the two emotions Nathan Thompson has at seeing younger brother Louis shine at Stevenage.
Moving closer to his family was a big reason for the 32-year-old swapping Peterborough United for Stevenage but having his brother join him was the cherry on top of the cake.
And the elder Thompson sibling has marvelled at how his brother has grabbed the bull by the horns after recovering from a spate of nasty injuries while at Portsmouth.
Nathan said: "Having Louis here too, that was that was massive for me.
"It was more of a personal reason that I chose to move further south from Peterborough, to be closer to family back home.
"And then to couple that with being with my brother as well, it works really nicely and sometimes it's fate.
"It's been probably about eight years since I last played with Lou and to have him to back alongside me, I know he is someone who is always going to have my back in the dressing room and on the pitch.
"It's a nice feeling and it's great to see him doing well and back to playing like I know he's capable of.
"He's had a tricky couple of years in terms of injuries and stuff and that can knock your confidence at times, but to see him flying again and getting on the ball when driving forward, those are qualities that I know he possesses and it is great to see."
Moving to the Lamex also reunited Thompson with former Posh boss Steve Evans.
And the defender believes in the gaffer to get the best out of him and the rest of the squad.
He said: "I mentioned on Football Focus the other day, and it was only a sort of slight off the cuff comment, but the gaffer comes with a reputation that he can be extremely demanding.
"Realistically though, he is a winner, and you can't ever take that away from him.
"He's someone that's been successful in League One and League Two and then that becomes ingrained in the players – that mentality of going out there to win.
"He is demanding, you know what he expects of you and if you let those standards slip, then you know you will get a bit of a telling off for it.
"But it's ingrained in the players’ mentality now and that's something that can only be a positive thing."
Third-placed Stevenage host second-placed Oxford United at the Lamex Stadium at 3pm.
