Former Baldock Town striker Ashley Hay has made a shock deadline day move from Hitchin Town - to the Premier League.
The 20-year-old will join Brentford, taking his place in Neil MacFarlane’s B team.
Hay had been on trial with the young Bees over the course of pre-season and did more than enough to catch the eye, scoring twice.
He got his first in a game with Slough Town with the second coming as the squad beat Real Betis B 1-0 in Spain.
His time with the Canaries in Southern League Premier Division Central last season saw him score 11 times as Mark Burke's men finished 12th in the table.
MacFarlane said: "Ashley has been in over pre-season and he’s another example of us dipping into the non-league market.
"He scored a lot of goals for Hitchin last season and that’s what I’m hoping he can add to our team.
"He has proved to be a really good character around the training ground and is a slightly older player in what is a really young group. We also feel that he can add a lot with his presence on and off the field."
Hay will be with the Bees until January at the very least.
