Baldock Town remain top of the Stevenage Mixed Bowls League - but the defending champions are poised to strike behind them.
Baldock lead the pack with 48 points from 10 games, eight clear of St Ippolyts but having played a game more.
Their latest success came with a 65-44 win over Stevenage and all six points.
St Ippolyts kept stride with them thanks to a 72-25 success over Knebworth.
In total 47 results have now been declared in the league.
Howard Garden remain third with 36 points from their nine games.
They had two friendly matches in the week, winning away to Stevenage Town 50-48 before a loss at home to North Herts, the visitors winning on all three rinks and 61-34 overall.
On Sunday they held an internal singles competition, the Woodford Bowl, which was won by Stuart Abery ahead of Jamie Moynes.
The other games for North Herts also had positive outcomes.
They won 92-48 at home to Buntingford, winning on all four rinks, the best of them including new member Steve Field who had an excellent game.
Along with Gill Crane and Andy Denniss, they won 24 - 11.
Crane was also on the top rink as NHBC won 67-56 against Sandy.
Robin Edmetts and John Wigglesworth were also involved in a whopping 42-4 win.
The top rink in the win over Howard Garden was Jeff Tebbett's team of Chin Tory and Tony Glenn.
Whitethorn had a friendly match against Baldock, winning 77-59 and on two rinks.
Datchworth's week mostly centred around games in the Welwyn Hatfield League and the East Herts Bowls League although the ladies were in action in a County League match.
Unfortunately the team of Linda Tyler, Barbara Williams, Rachel Jones and Chris Hills only lost 17-12, even though they won eight of the 18 ends.
