A battle of the sexes at Stevenage Hockey Club went firmly the way of the ladies.
All three of the female sides to play finished unbeaten, with one win and two draws.
For the men of the club though there was only disappointment as all four teams lost.
The one side in the ladies' section to win was the seconds who won 2-0 away to Cheshunt in East League Division Three South West.
The hosts had a very solid defence which made life difficult for Stevenage but they eventually found a way through from a short corner, Kate Mouncey firing it to the left post for Claire Weston to convert.
Hannah Gardner finished off a lovely passing move to make it two and although there were no goals in the second half, Stevenage closed out the win to move fifth in the table.
The thirds are still top of Division Four despite a 1-1 draw at home to Harpenden.
Julie Rhodes got the only goal to maintain their unbeaten season and their mood was lifted when they heard that nearest rivals, Welwyn Garden City, had also been held 1-1, keeping them two points behind.
The fourths drew 0-0 at Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead while the first team were without a game.
However, the men's day was less fun.
The firsts lost 3-1 at home to Welwyn and found their usual intensity was missing from the start.
Aiden Parker got their only goal as they slip four points behind leaders Harpenden in Division Two South West.
The seconds are still bottom of Division Three after a 3-2 loss at Bishop’s Stortford but the performance felt like another step in the right direction.
Tom Woolley had levelled in the first half but they were 3-1 down when Nathan Arthur Derrick gave them late hope.
The thirds suffered the biggest loss, going down 4-1 at home to Hertford with their only goal coming from Martin Swarbrick, but the fourths produced a fantastic effort to keep Division Eight leaders MBDA to just a 1-0 win.
Both sides had chances but it was with 15 minutes to go that the visitors got their winner from a penalty flick.
