If Steve Evans ever wants a career change then he could consider cheerleading.
The 60-year-old was front and centre in front of Stevenage's ecstatic fans after masterminding an incredible 2-1 win at Aston Villa, the two goals coming in the space of three minutes at the end of the FA Cup third round tie.
The boss played down his role though, saying the win was all about his players and the fans.
"I think Jordan Roberts was leading them," said Evans.
"The fans were fantastic all game. We’ve come out of the tunnel to 3,000 Stevenage fans in full voice.
"I’m delighted for our supporters who travelled to Villa Park in big numbers.
"We asked them to believe in us and if we are in the cup tie after 70 or 80 minutes, then you have to believe in the magic of the FA Cup.
"We’ve beaten a simply fantastic team but our players stuck to the plan and the discipline in the plan and they got the rewards."
Dean Campbell turned out to be the winner having come off the bench on 63 minutes.
He won the penalty with five minutes to go, Jamie Reid finally converting on 88 minutes, before smashing a sweer low drive inside the near post on 90 minutes, after a short corner had caught the Villa defence napping.
And the boss was delighted for his countryman.
He said: "We’ve got really good players for the level we play and we had to be, to a man, as good as we could be.
"And we were.
"We had to work so hard out of possession and we restrained some very gifted players to minimal opportunities to hurt us.
"Once we got the penalty, I believed we’d win and that’s why I sent Dean Campbell out for the short corner.
"He’s got a great left-foot and he struck a fierce strike.
"I’m really pleased for him, he’s the nicest kid in the world."
And even for a manager like Steve Evans, the win will take some sinking in.
He said: "When you have days like this, sometimes you need to go away and think through what the size of the task was.
"The boys have worked on the plan for three or four days.
"We knew we would have energy and we knew we would have to be in the cup tie.
"I’m very fortunate, even when I was in charge of non-league clubs, to have beaten Championship clubs.
"But to beat someone as big as Villa, we don’t kid ourselves. They have talent on the pitch and talent on the bench and a gifted manager.
"We’ll take the win. We came with pride and we’ll leave with pride."
