Biggleswade Town face a tough assignment on Saturday as they travel to Slough Town, who sit third in the Southern League Premier table and are the league’s top scorers with twenty-nine to their name.
The Waders have progressed steadily this campaign with last week’s 3-0 win at home to Farnborough- their first win four in all competitions- followed up by a 1-0 success at local rivals Arlesey Town in The Challenge Cup.
Manager Chris Nunn told CometSport he was delighted with those two victories: “Farnborough have got some very good players, so to beat them as we did is fantastic.
“Our keeper made an excellent save at 1-0 and once we got the second goal it was cruise control from there and we got a comfortable victory.
He also added the importance of The Challenge Cup in giving opportunities to the younger players: “It’s a competition we want to play our young players in and give them experience, I mean it’s all well and good throwing them in when it’s 3-0 but bringing them on at 1-0 to change a game is completely different.”
League leaders Kettering Town visit The Carlsberg Stadium Tuesday night after the weekend trip to Slough and Nunn is aware of the difficulty of his side’s task: “If we play to our best and if luck’s on our side, as it hasn’t been in the games we’ve lost, we might be able to nick a point but that is two tough games.”
