Thirty-three Stevenage and North Herts Athletics Club members travelled to Slough on Saturday for the third race of the winter's Chiltern Cross Country League programme.

The under-13 girls team finished in first place out of eight teams to consolidate their second place in the league table.

Danielle Murphy led her team home in third place, followed by Janie Latchford (fifth), Olivia Hazell (13th), Melissa Doran (17th), Elena Cervi (18th), Sarah Feely (21st), Sophie Keeble (22nd), Louise Phillips (29th) and Kirsten Ingram (31st).

The six-strong team of under-17 boys finished runners-up to stay second in the league table.

Lewis Keeble (third), Gregory Evans (sixth), Warren Herridge (seventh), Luke Langley (ninth), Tom Sloan (10th) and David Pickett (11th) made up the team.

The under-17 team had four runners. Hannah Dewhurst was first home for the club in fourth place, followed by Sarah Pike (ninth), Temi Fajobi (10th), and Charlotte Baird (11th) to come in fourth overall.

Matthew Mardle, improving race by race, took fourth place, but was the only under-13 from the club, as was Liam Vooght (21st) in the under-15 boys.

The two girls in the under-15 category were Georgia Hazell (8th) and Alex Gates (11th), who kept the club in fourth place out of seven clubs in the league.

There were three women running in the form of Jasmine Forde (12th), Nikki Andrews (17th) and Tilly Scheuber (21st) while three men, Adam Searle (fourth in Senior category), Callum McKechnie (fourth under-20) and Steve Pickett (29th Veteran), also raced.

In the under-11 race, which does not count towards the league positions, Rivers Cook, Bethany Harley, and newcomer to league racing Abigail Pickard placed 17th, 30th and 47th respectively. Another newcomer, Owen Todd placed 41st.

The first club member to compete in the indoor track and field season was Cameron Webb who took second place in the Southern FE students championships at Lee Valley in the 400m where he clocked 51.1 seconds.
