The A505 will be shut between Hitchin and Luton tonight and during the early hours of tomorrow morning while emergency roadworks take place.
The road will be closed westbound from the Wratten Road West mini-roundabout in Hitchin – pinpointed below – and the Great Marlings roundabout in Luton from 8pm until 5am tomorrow.
Roadworks, which also shut the same section of road last night, will be taking place on the A505 at Beech Hill near Lilley – where there have been a number of crashes.
A diversion route will be in place and traffic travelling towards Luton Airport will be directed north along the A505 Old Park Road in Hitchin, continuing north along the A600, west on the A507, and then south along the A6, back towards Luton.
The carriageway in the eastbound direction towards Hitchin will remain open.
