A 24-hour McDonald’s in Biggleswade – with a 12m drive-through totem – has been approved.
The fast food giant applied for advertising consent from Central Bedfordshire Council last November and the site – near the corner of Normandy Lane, on the opposite side of London Road from the A1 Retail Park – has now been approved.
The location is on the Stratton Business Park, meaning it comes under a local development order drawn up by the council in 2015, enabling certain developments without the need for planning permission.
In a statement late last year, McDonald’s confirmed to the Comet that the restaurant would create “65 full and part-time jobs and bring significant investment to the local community”.
Design drawings show the restaurant to be a two-storey building with a double drive-through, open 24/7 – similar to the McDonald’s off the A505 across the county border near Royston.
