The emergency services were called to a busy road in Stevenage yesterday (December 2) after a driver took ill behind the wheel of her vehicle.
Police and the ambulance service were called at around 4.30pm to reports of a medical emergency in Grace Way.
Police closed the road while a woman, who had fallen ill while driving, was assessed.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "An ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle, and rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene.
"A woman was transported to Lister Hospital for further assessment and treatment."
A spokesperson for Herts police added: "Police were called to assist the ambulance service.
"Officers attended and assisted with a road closure, which was lifted at around 5pm."
