Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A1(M) at Stevenage this morning (Monday).
The incident, which involved several vehicles, happened on the northbound carriageway.
Police and the ambulance service were called to the scene, and the road was closed.
Two ambulances, a paramedic car and three Hazardous Area Response Team Vehicles attended.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Six people were assessed at the scene, and an adult and a child were transported to Lister Hospital for further assessment and care."
The northbound carriageway remains closed between junctions 8 and 9.
Traffic is heavy on the southbound carriageway due to vehicles slowing down.
