The air ambulance has been called to the scene of a collision in Stevenage involving a car and 12-year-old boy.

Police, a road ambulance and the air ambulance were called at around 9.05am to reports of a road traffic collision on Fairlands Way, involving a white Kia Sportage which has collided with a 12-year-old boy.

The East of England Ambulance service confirmed that the boy was taken to Lister Hospital for treatment on a leg injury.

"We were called at 8.55am with reports that a boy had been hit by a car on Fairlands Way in Stevenage," a spokesperson said. 

"An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to the scene.

"The boy was transported by road to the Lister Hospital for treatment for a leg injury."

The driver of the Kia remained at the scene.

Road closures remain in place in Fairlands Way, between Knights Templars Green and Pacatian Way.

"Police were called at around 9.05am to reports of a road traffic collision on Fairlands Way," a Herts police spokesperson said.

"The collision is involving a white Kia Sportage which has collided with a 12-year-old boy.

"The East of England Ambulance service and the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is also in attendance.

"Road closures remain in place in Fairlands Way, between Knights Templars Green and Pacatian Way.

"The driver of the Kia remained at the scene."
