A primary school in Hitchin has launched its new Forest School programme for children to explore the great outdoors.
Our Lady Catholic Primary School has transformed its natural woodland area into an outdoor classroom.
Children in Reception and Key Stage One will have the opportunity to explore nature each week, under the guidance of a trained Forest School teacher.
The Forest School programme involves hands-on learning, with activities such as building shelters, lighting fires and identifying plants and animals.
The programme also aims to support children's holistic development through a range of outdoor activities, and teach environmental stewardship to give children an appreciation of the natural world.
This initiative is part of the school's commitment to providing a "broad and balanced" curriculum.
