The trial of a Hitchin man charged with the murder of a man at Ickleford Sports and Recreation Club has begun.
Oscar Jackson, of Wilshere Crescent, Hitchin, is accused of killing Grant Wallendorf, 45, outside the club on June 16 this year.
The 21-year-old has denied one charge of murder and another of manslaughter at Huntingdon Law Courts.
On Sunday, June 16, police and ambulance crews were called to the Chambers Lane site at around 10.30pm, following reports of an assault in the car park.
Mr Wallendorf was taken to hospital, where despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he died from his injuries.
Tributes, including flowers, candles and a South African flag, were laid at the scene by family and friends following his death.
The trial continues.
