Nominations are now open for the North Herts Heroes 2024 awards, recognising those in the community who go above and beyond.
Organised by North Herts Council, judges want to see people who have made a big impact on a person, family or group in the community - this could be an eco warrior or an exceptional young person.
The judges on the panel include; Cllr Clare Billing, Chair of the Council, a representative from North Herts Council for Voluntary Service (NHCVS), a representative from each of the sponsors and Georgia Barrow, editor of The Comet, as media sponsor.
Cllr Clare Billing, chair of the council, said: “We know there are some fantastic people out there who give up their time to help other people and communities, and really make a difference to their lives.
“Sometimes this means they are passionate about a certain issue and are actively making North Herts a better place to live.
“These awards are a small way the council can recognise this amazing work and thank these special people, who don’t do it for the glory.
“We want to acknowledge their contribution – it very often inspires others to think about how they could get involved and help others too.
“This year’s winners blew us away, I can’t wait to read your nominations and meet with winners next year.”
The deadline for nominations is January 5 and winners will receive an engraved trophy and gift voucher.
The awards up for grabs are:
- The caring award sponsored by Nyaradzo Group
- The dedication award sponsored by Rewind Media Ltd
- The green award sponsored by John O‘Conner
- The health ward sponsored by Altro
- The young star award (19 or under) sponsored by Lovell Homes.
To nominate someone, go to https://www.north-herts.gov.uk/north-herts-heroes. The nominees do not have to live in the district, but the work they are being awarded for must benefit residents of North Herts.
