A prolific burglar has been sentenced following multiple offences across North Herts.
Simon Day has been jailed for more than three years for carrying out a burglary and attempted burglaries in the county.
The 37-year-old, of no fixed abode, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, November 8, for sentencing, having previously pleaded guilty to a burglary and two attempted burglaries in Letchworth on Monday, July 8 this year.
Detective Inspector Katy Northway said: “I’m pleased Day has been taken off the streets. Dwelling burglaries can have a huge impact on victims leaving them feeling unsafe in their own homes, while also having an impact in terms of financial loss.
“We are committed to targeting anyone who commits such offences and bringing them to justice as this case highlights.”
He was sentenced to:
- Three years in prison for the burglary, with 11 other burglary offences in Letchworth and Hitchin taken into consideration.
- 18 months each for the two attempted burglaries to run concurrently.
- A further 30 weeks to run consecutively having activated a suspended sentence order following previous offending.
