Stevenage recently got its own version of London’s well-known Boris bikes, with Beryl Bikes bringing 150 hireable e-bikes to town.
In the first month alone, there have been 8,000 e-bike rides, with 22,000km covered in distance.
This represents 2,000 hours of physical activity, with 2,000 car journeys replaced.
The scheme is operated by bike share scheme Beryl on behalf of Stevenage Borough Council, and has been funded in part by money awarded to Stevenage in 2021 by central government.
The 45 bays across Stevenage mean that up to 80 per cent of the town's population are just five minutes walk, or less, away from a bay.
