Hitchin's MP has paid tribute to an army veteran from the town, planting a stake in his memory ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Alistair Strathern dedicated a stake in Parliament's Constituency Garden of Remembrance to British Army veteran Patrick Richardson, who passed away earlier this year.
Ahead of Remembrance Day on November 10, the entrance to Parliament has been filled with stakes paying tribute to veterans from constituencies across the country.
Mr Strathern said: “It was a privilege to be able to dedicate this stake in remembrance of my constituent, British Army veteran Patrick Richardson, and in honour of all those from our constituency who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“The Constituency Garden of Remembrance is an important way for us to show our admiration and respect for the Armed Forces in Herts, Beds and across our country."

He added: “It forms an essential part of our annual Remembrance events here in Parliament, reinforcing our commitment to honour those who served and ensuring we never forget the sacrifices they made.
“We will remember them.”
The MP also paid tribute to all those from the constituency who have given their lives in service, including those who served at the RAF Chicksands and RAF Henlow bases in the constituency.
