A former car garage in Hitchin is set to be turned into apartments after plans were given conditional permission.
North Herts Council has given Viva Property Group the green light to turn 81 Whinbush Road, formerly home to AZ Autos, into a three-storey block.
The building will consist of seven one-bedroom apartments and a single two-bedroom property, as well as bin and bike storage.
Nine parking spaces will be provided on site, following the demolition of an existing workshop.
Despite being given the go-ahead, conditions must be met by the developer, including beginning work in the next three years and making sure the vehicle access point is at six metres away from the edge of the public footpath.
The developer will also be required to provide details on construction materials, landscaping and boundary treatments to North Herts Council for further approval.
This is not the first time a developer has looked to turn the site into homes, with two sets of plans for 12 and then 10 flats in a three-storey building rejected back in 1988.
