With only three days left in their six-week fundraising campaign, Citizens Advice North Herts (CANH) is calling on the local community to help secure the final funds needed to continue providing vital services across the region.
The campaign was launched to celebrate the charity's 85th anniversary and raise essential funds to support its work assisting individuals and families with issues such as debt, housing, employment, and benefits.
"The community’s generosity has been overwhelming, but we still need support as we approach the final stretch," said Rosie Waters, CEO of CANH. "These funds are essential to help us expand our services and reach more people, especially as the cost of living crisis worsens."
One of the many individuals who benefited from CANH's services is Sarah, a single mother of two who faced eviction after losing her job.
Struggling to pay rent and fearful of homelessness, Sarah turned to CANH for help.
The team assisted her in negotiating with her landlord, applying for housing benefits, and accessing emergency funds.
They also connected her with local food banks and childcare support while she searched for new employment.
"Citizens Advice North Herts gave me hope when I thought I had none," said Sarah. "They helped me find solutions and gave me the tools I needed to get back on my feet."
Now, Sarah is back on her feet with a new job and stable housing, a testament to the charity's critical role in helping those in crisis.
Every donation to the campaign will help ensure more people like Sarah can access these vital services.
Catherine Bennett, CANH's communications manager, emphasised the impact of donations: "Every contribution makes a difference, and with Aviva’s match-funding scheme, donations up to £250 will be doubled."
