A points failure at Stevenage means southbound trains running through the station has now been cleared.

Earlier this evening, the failure was preventing services from using some of the London-bound lines through the area.

At the time, a statement on the Thameslink website read: "A points failure at Stevenage means trains running through the station may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

"Furthermore, Great Northern stopping services that run between Cambridge/Letchworth Garden City and Kings Cross will run non-stop between Hitchin and Welwyn Garden City.

"Commuters can also expect short notice alterations. Some services may cancel stops, or terminate/start at different stations."

Due to the problem, the train company confirmed that tickets will be accepted on Great Northern and Thameslink services between Cambridge, Stevenage and London.

Now that the disruption has concluded, Thameslink say they will compensate commuters for delays over 15 minutes or more at  https://www.thameslinkrailway.com/help-and-support/delay-repay
