A Stevenage van driver has been arrested after he was involved in a crash which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries that require ongoing treatment.

The incident happened in Walkern Road, Watton-at-Stone, sometime between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Friday, September 13, when a white Yamaha motorbike and a grey Vauxhall Vivaro van were involved in a collision.

The motorcyclist, a man in his sixties, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital with multiple injuries that require ongoing treatment.

The van driver, a 46-year-old man from Stevenage, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police are now appealing for information, witnesses and dash cam footage.

PC Michael Harman, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: "We’ve been carrying out enquiries since the collision and I am now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch. This includes anyone who also saw the events leading up to the collision.

"I would also like to hear from anybody who may have caught what happened on dash cam.
