Police are appealing for witnesses, information and CCTV footage following a series of suspected arson attacks in Stevenage.

Between 1.20am and 2.25am today (October 8), it was reported that three vehicles were set alight on Vardon Road, Jessop Road and Canterbury Way.

The fires then spread to several other vehicles before the suspect(s) made off in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to deal with the fires and carry out their enquiries. A section of Jessop Road remains closed at this time.

Detective Constable Christopher Jones, from the Stevenage Local Crime Unit, said: "I appreciate the nature of this incident will be concerning to the community and devastating for the victims, and we are doing all we can to trace those responsible.
