An exciting new three-day series of stadium shows with big-name artists is coming to Stevenage FC's Lamex Stadium next year.
SMR25 will take place on May 23, 24, and 25, the 9,500-capacity live music stadium event will be the first of its kind for the town, with tickets on sale from October 25.
Organisers KB Concerts - who also put on Stevenage's Old Town Live - are promising "big-name artists", and an "eclectic three-day series of shows that appeal to most musical tastes".
"We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure each day attracts a different demographic of household names, to bring a larger music event to the local area with a view of this being an annual event for higher-end shows whilst keeping costs as low as possible to make music accessible to everyone," said KB Concerts owners Ben Allingham and Kriss Lawrence.
Stevenage FC director Stuart Dinsey said he is excited to welcome SMR25 to the Lamex, and that the club "jumped at the chance" to host the event.
"This a hugely exciting new music event for the town, bringing globally known artists to the Lamex Stadium,” he said.
"The organisers have proven themselves with the success of other local events, so we jumped at the chance to work with them. SMR 25 will further strengthen our work with the local community and beyond."
Councillor Richard Henry, leader of Stevenage Borough Council, added: "It’s great to hear about another large-scale event being planned within the Stevenage calendar.
"Our town has a strong heritage of music and culture, and it’s fantastic to see this set to continue to grow.
"Events such as this are also great for the local economy, bringing lots of people to the area to see what Stevenage has to offer."
Line-ups for SMR25 are expected to be announced soon. To find out more information about the event, visit www.smr.uk.
