A loving couple who have lived in Stevenage since 1964 have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family.

Jan and Terry Radford were married at St Mary's Church in Tottenham on September 19, 1964, and moved to Stevenage that same year.

(Image: Courtesy of Angela Radford) They were offered a council house in Raleigh Crescent, as part of the new town's housing scheme, and Terry began working at Bowaters in Hitchin.

Terry, now 87, then went on to work at both Taylors Instruments and BAE for many years. 

Jan, now 83, also worked at BAE for over 20 years, but took early retirement in 1991 after being made redundant.

They have two children, Corrine and Steve, and four grandchildren.

"We celebrated with a family meal at Lavish at the weekend, and have a further event planned in October for extended family and friends.

"They said the secret to their lifelong happy relationship is lots of home cooking, endless cups of tea and, of course, laughter and love."
