Plans for a new housing development in Knebworth are set to be decided this week.

North Herts Council's Planning Control Committee will decide if the proposal for nine homes in Park Lane can go ahead when it meets at 7.30pm on Thursday (September 26).

"The proposal is acceptable as the application site is within the village where the principle of residential development is accepted," reads the application.

"The context of the site includes a housing allocation to the north and east for circa 200 dwellings, reinforcing the suitability of the site for residential development.

"The eventual design and layout of the scheme will ensure that existing trees and planting are retained, and that the development is appropriate for the character of the area.

"Safe access can be provided to the site, which is located within the village with access to local facilities within walking distance and there is a local bus service and railway station. The proposal would improve the existing access to the site and provide a new length of footway to link to the existing one on the northern side of Park Lane.

"It is not considered that the proposals would have any adverse impact on environmental considerations including ecology, trees, and energy conservation."
