Ben Elton's comedy play Silly Cow is heading to the Queen Mother Theatre in Hitchin this week.
The play opens on Monday, September 23 and runs until Saturday, September 28, with tickets available at www.qmt.org.uk and a licensed bar on the night.
Originally performed with Dawn French in the lead role, Silly Cow is a fast-paced comedy set in the world of tabloid journalism - now getting a revival in Hitchin.
Set in 1991, the play the story of Doris Wallace, who has everything a tabloid columnist could want - a toy boy with a handy supply of drugs, a lovely PA who bends over backwards to make sure she has everything she wants, and the prospect of her own TV show. But then for some reason things start to go horribly wrong...
A professional production of Silly Cow was described as "a cracker of a play" in The Stage, and as "crude, clever and killingly funny" in the Daily Mirror.
Ben Elton is an Olivier-award winning playwright for the play Popcorn, and is behind comedy classics such as Blackadder, The Young Ones and more recently Upstart Crow. He is also an award-winning author and stand-up comedian.
