New neighbourhood policing priorities have been set for Stevenage.

The Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) have pinpointed areas of concern for the coming months, aiming to tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour (ASB), theft, speeding, and drug-related crime.

The priorities are revised every four months, based on public feedback from the force's community forum, 'echo', and crime data analysis.

The NPTs work with partner agencies to address these concerns through increased police presence, engagement events, and targeted enforcement.

For central Stevenage, the focus will be on ASB in the town centre and boosting officer visibility in Bedwell and Pin Green.

In the south, the focus is on drug use and related crime, vehicle nuisance behaviour, and ASB between The Willows and Broadwater Crescent and around the Marymead shops.

In north Stevenage, the focus will be on ASB in Durham Road, York Road, Rippon Road, and St Nicholas, as well as vehicle nuisance behaviour.

Neighbourhood inspector Sarah Jones said: "I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to provide us with feedback, it plays a big part in our decision making and is used to help shape the priorities, alongside an analysis of local data.

"Some of these priorities are ongoing, as the issues are longer term, and the teams have been working hard to tackle them.

"In Bedwell we are continuing to support the Build a Better initiative, executing drug warrants, carrying out regular patrols, and working with the council to target harden the area making it less attractive to criminals.

"ASB is an issue in many areas and as well as enforcement, we also work on longer-term prevention tactics with partner agencies, to help provide diversionary activities."

The NPTs will continue their speed enforcement operations and patrol areas frequented by nuisance drivers.

Residents can keep up to date with the work of their local NPT on the 'Stevenage Police' Facebook page.

Feedback on priorities can still be given at bit.ly/hertspolice-psf.

The survey is being run through the Herts Connected platform, and residents are encouraged to sign up for more information on issues in the area.

They can also join the community messaging platform Herts Connected at hertsconnected.co.uk.
