Students from North Hertfordshire College recently took over the kitchen at Knebworth Golf Club for a fundraising event.
The hospitality and catering students prepared and served a fine dining menu at the Golf Club's Captain’s charity dinner, raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer.
The charity supports young people suffering from cancer and their families.
The event saw students cook for 132 guests, using ingredients sponsored by Riso Gallo, an organisation which often works with the college.
The students, guided by college staff, including Craft Guild Chef Lecturer of the Year, Anthony Gascoigne, commercial manager in hospitality and catering, Dave Brett-Lavelle, and catering lecturer Donna Ryan, customised their menu to accommodate all dietary requirements.
The experience provided both catering and hospitality students with valuable hands-on experience in catering for a large-scale luxury event.
Both front-of-house and kitchen-based students received positive feedback.
One student, Kacper Rudzinski, received a job offer from Knebworth Golf Club as a result.
Emma Brooke, club operations manager at Knebworth Golf Club, said: "Thank you for an incredible night.
"It was very well received and a real success.
"A big thank you to Anthony, Dave, Donna, and especially all the students.
"We eagerly anticipate working with you again."
Level three chef student Kacper Rudzinski, shared his experience of the event, stating that it was a "fantastic opportunity" for him to take over the kitchen at Knebworth Golf Club.
He said: "We served delicious food and successfully raised funds for the Young Lives vs Cancer charity.
"I am also pleased to share that I received a job offer to work as a chef at Knebworth Golf Course.
"This experience has been immensely rewarding, and I am grateful for the chance to support a great cause while having the opportunity to learn in a fast-paced environment."
North Hertfordshire College incorporates industry-focused learning opportunities into its curriculum to prepare students for employment.
This includes providing real-life work experience, such as catering for large events, and ensuring students are well-versed in industry trends and requirements before they graduate.
