A charity football match in support of a Letchworth-based Garden House Hospice Care is taking place on Sunday, August 25.

The match, hosted at the Buffs Football Club in Baldock, will see a face off between Grange community centre and Feed Up Warm Up to raise money for the hospice.

Accompanying the 90-minute match, there will be a penalty shootout competition and raffles.

There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs including a signed 1966 replica Martin Peters and Sir Geoff Hirst top as well as signed match balls from Norwich FC.

Everything kicks off at 1pm and for families and children there is live music, hot food options, face painting and blow up darts.

Organiser Darren Campbell said: "This community has been so good to me I just wanted to give some time back.

"I have had friends and family pass away from cancer, and I wish they had a facility like the hospice as it invokes a real community spirit, it’s a big presence around Letchworth and Baldock.

"Everyone from Mr Softy's ice creams to the burger van are volunteering so please come down and support!"

Supermarkets Tesco and Morrisons have also pitched in with money and prizes.

The event is free to attend and all proceeds will go to the hospice, which supports communities across North Herts and Stevenage.
