Two men were arrested yesterday (August 22) in connection with a series of distraction thefts committed across Hertfordshire between January and August.
It was reported that a number of mobile phones had been stolen, after victims were engaged in conversation while pieces of paper were placed over their phones, allowing them to be picked up unnoticed.
Enquiries have been ongoing behind the scenes, resulting in a vehicle of interest being stopped in Letchworth yesterday morning where a suspected stolen mobile phone was found inside.
Two men, aged 61 and 30, were subsequently arrested. They have been released on conditional bail until November while investigations continue to progress the case.
