One YMCA has recently agreed to purchase Anderson House in Hitchin from settle group.

The final purchase and future use of the property are subject to the usual legal and regulatory requirements, including planning permission.

North Herts Council will work closely with One YMCA to offer opportunities for residents to receive updates and meet with representatives from One YMCA, which will be leading on this initiative.

Cllr Dave Winstanley, North Herts Council’s executive member for housing, said: “This project is an important step forward in providing meaningful support for our most vulnerable residents.

"We’re proud to be working with partners who share our vision of providing a pathway to independent living for those who need it most.”

Anderson House is currently occupied by property protection company, Live-In Guardians, which will be vacating the premises in due course.

Guy Foxell from One YMCA said: “We are delighted to be working with settle and North Herts Council, to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in the district, at Anderson House, and hope to continue to work with the Hitchin-based charity, Helping Herts Homeless, in the future development of the sanctuary site.”

As the project progresses, North Herts Council promises to keep the community informed and share further details in due course.
