A college which has produced Olympic athletes and aircraft engineers is holding an event for students to sign up for courses, regardless of their GCSE results.
Oaklands College in St Albans is inviting 16-year-olds who have received their GCSE results to its 'Come to College Day' on Thursday, August 22.
The further education college has campuses in Welwyn Garden City and St Albans and a further training provision in Borehamwood.
At the event, students will be able to learn about the 300 courses on offer and sign up for one on the spot.
Deputy principal Claire Dolan said: "The 'Come to College' day on 22nd of August is for any young person who is uncertain about their next steps after school.
"We are welcoming those who have changed their minds and now would like to see what Oaklands has to offer, as well as those who did not get the GCSE results they expected and would like to chat about their options with someone.
"There is more than one route to success in life and Oaklands' students' achievements demonstrate that.
"We pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of courses in addition to A-Levels - many of which are valuable vocational qualifications, as well as our high-level athletics and sports development programmes.
"We want to get the message out to young people, especially those who are worried about their future, that we offer many pathways here at Oaklands, and they are welcome on August 22 to find out more."
The college, which has trained Olympic athletes, including Daryll Neita, a two-time Olympic bronze medallist, is also known for its vocational success.
Three of its Level 3 engineering students were recently accepted onto a highly sought-after apprenticeship scheme.
Heath Richmond, 19, and Alexander Mason, 18, secured places on aircraft engineering apprenticeships with TUI, the UK's leading holiday company, while Jamie Orfeur, 18, will be starting on TUI's aircraft engineer workshop apprenticeship scheme, a brand-new programme.
Both courses are for four years and will be based at the TUI hangar at Luton Airport.
The event will take place at the college's St Albans campus from 9am until 1pm.
