Road closures are among the key Stevenage and North Herts public notices set to impact residents in the coming months.

Here are a few notices which could impact residents in Stevenage and North Herts. 

1) The Twitchell, Baldock

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of The Twitchell, Baldock, from its junction with Simpson Drive south eastwards, north eastwards, north westwards and south eastwards for its entire length, except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

All vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the road whilst works are in progress.

If the order is made, it shall come into force on August 26, 2024 for a period of up to 18 months.

The restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the road.

2) London Road, St Ippolyts

An order is being submitted to close the length of B656 London Road, St Ippolyts, from its junction with Half Hankerchief Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 30m.

An alternative route will be available. If the order is made, it shall come into force on 26 August 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the eoad.

3) East Street, Lilley

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order to prohibit traffic from using that length of East Street, Lilley from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.26 East Street north westwards for a distance of approximately 40m.

Alternative routes will be available. The order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed nearby.

If the order is made, the road will close on August 27, 2024 for a period of up to 18 months.

4) Lilley Road, Hexton

An order is set to be made to close Lilley Road, Hexton, from its junction with B655 Barton Road southwards, south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Streatley Road, a distance of approximately 2,105m, except for access.

An alternative route will be via B655 (Barton Road/Hexton Road/Luton Road), A6 Luton Road, Barton Hill Road and Streatley Road.

Additionally, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the road whilst works are in progress.

It will come into force on August 26, 2024, for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the road.

5) Whitwell Road, St Pauls Walden

The length of B651 Whitwell Road, St Pauls Walden, from its junction with Church Lane north eastwards, will be closed from August 9, except for access.

This is to allow for works to replace existing utility poles.

6) Breakspear and Broadwater Crescent, Stevenage

The footpaths between number 33 and 35 Breakspear, and number 35 and 53 Broadwater Crescent will be closed to pedestrians from August 12, with alternative routes available, to allow for work to the footpaths.

7) Pound Avenue/Primrose Hill Road, Stevenage

The length of Pound Avenue/Primrose Hill Road, Stevenage, will be closed from August 12, to vehicles due to electric service connection works

8) Six Hill Way, Stevenage

All vehicular traffic will be prohibited from using that length of Six Hills Way, Stevenage, from its junction with the Gresley Way roundabout north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 272m.

An alternative route will be via Gresley Way, B1037 Fairlands Way, A1155 (Fairlands Way/St Georges Way) and Six Hills Way.

The closure, which will be in place from August 15, is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the road.
