Key stage two pupils at a primary school in Stevenage will receive new playground equipment thanks to a generous donation.
Work has been ongoing at Ashtree Primary School and Nursery in Chertsey Rise to raise £10,000 for the installation of gym-style equipment for children aged between seven and 11.
This project was made possible through a £1,400 donation from housebuilder, Miller Homes, who are currently constructing new homes at Forster Park off North Road, Stevenage.
Maria Jennings, chair of the Friends of Ashtree PTA, said: "The children were asked what equipment they would like to have in the playground and we have been fundraising to buy the most popular options.
"The new gym equipment will give the children the opportunity to play and exercise outdoors on their breaktimes and lunchtimes which will be good for their well-being and health."
Many of the equipment pieces are doubles, meaning two children can use them at once.
Maria added: "We’d like to thank Miller Homes as this donation has got us to our fundraising target and the equipment is set to in installed shortly, which everyone is excited about."
Alastair Parsons of Miller Homes said: "We hope the Key Stage 2 children have a great time playing on the new equipment."
