A repair café, where people's broken household items are fixed free of charge, is celebrating its first anniversary.

Held at Bedwell Community Centre on the first Saturday of every month, Stevenage Repair Café is a community initiative led by Terry Alderson.

It is entirely free for residents to use the café, from the repairing itself to the teas and coffees while you wait!

Terrence said: "My hopes for this first year have been exceeded. We have clearly found something in Stevenage which was needed.

"Within the first year, we have repaired over 120 items and, at the same time, saved them from hitting the rubbish bin. All this with some dedicated volunteers and voluntary donations.

"Let’s hope we have many more anniversaries to celebrate with the repair café.

"Stevenage Repair Café takes place on the first Saturday of every month, 2pm to 5pm at Bedwell Community Centre.

"We are always looking out for more volunteers, not only to fix things but to help with drinks and making people feel welcome.

"Find us on Facebook or come along to a session and talk to us."
