Drivers are being warned to expect delays on the A1(M) following a crash in the early hours of this morning (August 5).
The two-vehicle crash on the southbound carriageway happened between junction 8 at Corey's Mill and junction 7 at Stevenage north, and resulted in a vehicle fire.
One lane of the A1(M) remains closed "for emergency barrier repairs", National Highways has confirmed.
"The central reservation barrier has sustained heavy damage, so the [lane] will have to remain closed until National Highways contractors can repair it," a spokesperson said.
The closure will remain in place until later this afternoon, with National Highways warning drivers to expect delays.
